Peppol check

Is this enterprise number on Peppol?

Type a Belgian enterprise number or VAT number. We first verify the check digits, then ask the Peppol register whether the number is known as a receiver.

Ten digits, with or without BE, dots or spaces.

How we check this

Two public sources, nothing stored

  1. First the check digits

An enterprise number has ten digits; the last two are check digits (modulo 97). We calculate them in your browser, so a typo stands out straight away.

  2. Then the Peppol register

Our server asks the central Peppol register (the European Commission's SML) whether the number is listed, with the enterprise number (scheme 0208) and with the VAT number (scheme 9925).

  3. And the Peppol Directory for the name

The Directory is Peppol's public phone book. Listing is voluntary, so a business can be on Peppol without a name in the Directory.

  4. We store nothing

The answer stays in the server's memory for an hour at most, so as not to overload the register. We do not keep track of who looks up which number.
